Windows 11 has been available as a free update to Windows 10 users since its launch in October 2021. Although this is not the revolution that some hope it will be, it is an overall powerful operating system that longtime Windows users can quickly adapt to.
As mentioned in our Windows 11 review, Microsoft’s operating system has many new features, many of which can help casual and business users be more productive. However, there are a few hidden productivity features that even those who have used Windows 11 since launch may not know. We are here to show you the best.
Below you will find a list of the 7 hidden Windows 11 features that will make you more productive.
Focus settings
Focus assist is a great productivity feature of Windows 11. If you’ve used similar features on the best smartphones, you know how important focus assist is.
To enable focus assist, open a file start menu And type to focus To display the application list. You can set how long you want the focused session to last and enable or disable notifications from specific apps. For example, you might want to set work-based focus and enable notifications only from work accounts in Gmail and Slack. Conversely, you can disable work-related apps if you set up focus when you want to relax.
This is a vital feature that can help you separate your work and personal life, especially if you work from home.
Capture Layouts
This is not technically a hidden feature since it was announced before the launch of Windows 11. However, we include it because it is often not used by users who may find it handy.
Snap Layouts allows you to easily and quickly arrange applications and windows as you like on your desktop. To use it, hover over the zoom icon in the upper right corner of the app or window. This will show you six different grid layouts, each with different window configurations. Just choose the layout you want and then start selecting windows and apps to put them in a certain order. You can also use Snap Layouts settings on every screen connected to your computer or laptop. It is one of the best features of Windows 11 for sure.
Open pinned taskbar items via keyboard shortcuts
If you pin programs to the taskbar for faster access, there’s a nifty keyboard shortcut that can save you even more time.
You can bring an installed program by pressing Windows key + number Corresponds to the position of the program on the taskbar. For example, pressing Windows + 1 will bring up the first pinned item on the taskbar. This abbreviation is a game changer for those seeking maximum productivity.
Shake to reduce
If you feel overwhelmed by all the windows on your desktop, Windows 11 has a nifty feature called Shake to reduce that helps you de-clutter.
This feature is not turned on by default. To enable it, go to Settings -> System -> Multitasking. from there, Toggle title bar windows vibrate. Then, you can minimize all open windows by selecting and shaking the title bar of the window you want to keep open.
Closing windows in this way can be addictive, so be sure not to overdo it. The goal is to improve productivity, not hinder it.
voice to text
Voice typing (or converting voice to text) is a great feature that not many people know Windows 11 supports.
To enable voice typing, Press Windows + H. Click on the microphone icon in the menu and simply start talking. This feature is so accurate that I typed (or spoke) this entry by voice typing. I’m surprised Microsoft didn’t announce this feature because it’s one of the easiest (and coolest) features in Windows 11.
Dynamic refresh rate
If you have a monitor (or monitors) with a high refresh rate, this is a hidden feature that you’ll want to turn on the moment you finish reading this entry.
To enable dynamic refresh rate, go to Settings -> System -> Displaythen scroll down to advanced view. Here, you can choose from any of the refresh rates available in the dropdown menu in the lower right corner. This will make navigation in Windows 11 much smoother.
If you can’t understand the new context menu or simply prefer the old one, you can still access it easily.
Right click on the desktop Brings up the current context menu, which contains a few options. by pressing Show more optionsYou will treat the person you remember. You can also access this menu by pressing Shift + F10 on your keyboard.
