George Keitel bangs the drum loudly for Tre Lance

George Keitel has rave reviews about the Tre Lance quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers may be in the midst of a quarterback change, but that doesn’t seem to bother tight end George Keitel at all, who thinks Trey Lance is an absolute… DOG!

Kittle’s back Pat McAfee Show Friday to promote Tight End U. Although he’s had a lot of success getting passes from Jimmy Garoppolo, Kittle knows the NFL is business. When the 49ers traded three first-round picks on award-winning quarterback Walter Payton of North Dakota State, it was the writing on the wall for Garoppolo leading the 49ers long-term.

The good news is that Kittle has seen what Lance can do in practice, so he is a firm believer in what the 49 players in the quarterback room have.

Keitel said about Lance on Friday’s episode of Pat McAfee Show.

San Francisco 49ers: George Keitel is a big believer in Tre Lance becoming a star

He puts a lot of pressure on Lance to be successful for the 49ers. Once Garoppolo is healthy, he will almost certainly be traded this season. Again, San Francisco didn’t trade three first-round picks because Kyle Shanahan liked “Five Guys around 3.” Lance had the highest height of any passer in the draft other than his name Trevor Lawrence. Undeniably raw, but there is so much potential…

In support of what Kittle says, he trusts the culture the 49ers have to give the Lance the best chance of success. If the 49ers had to run the ball 35 times in a game in a Shanahan-area ban scheme fever dream, Kettle would be all about it. He actually played for Kirk Ferenc in Iowa after all. How the 49 players below the position will adapt this season will decide whether or not they are a viable Super Bowl.

Look, the 49ers have shown that they can not only reach the playoffs with Garoppolo under center, but win them. The issue was overtaking a more talented center player than him (i.e. Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford). The hope is that Lance can take his game to a higher level, while Garoppolo has only been able to get to it so far. He’s way better than Alex Smith and Jared Goff.

If George Keitel is taking the Trey Lance hype train, we’d better listen to the All-Pro tight end.
