Xbox Series X has been reported to be getting a popular PS4 feature

The Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X are said to be getting a new feature that will be familiar to anyone who owns a PS4, but not a PS5. Microsoft is slowly but surely improving both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X through regular updates that usually come with a new feature or two along with a variety of improvements. To that end, a new feature in the works for the pair of Xbox consoles appears to have leaked early.

On PS4, PlayStation users have the option of dynamic backgrounds that they can customize. Not only are there thousands of static and dynamic “themes” to choose from, but users can create their own wallpapers using in-game screenshots. All this has been a very popular aspect of PS4, as it allows users to customize the PS4 home screen with a stylish design or a special theme from their favorite game or their own game. On a pair of Xbox consoles, users are limited to in-game screenshots or very few static and dynamic wallpapers. This appears to be changing though.

On Twitter, Aggiornamenti Lumia relayed word that Microsoft is working on an Xbox app that will allow users to customize their console wallpaper. It’s unclear how powerful this feature is and if it comes with more general UI customization — such as the ability to make app tiles smaller and/or transparent on the home screen — but it’s an improvement.

As always, take this unofficial information with caution. Meanwhile, if Xbox makes any kind of feedback or provides its own information about any of this, we’ll make sure to update the story accordingly.
