Soon, fans will see wrestling icon and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair jump back into the ring for another match, which will take place during the Starrcast V event in Nashville, Tennessee. No one has been confirmed for the match except for Flair, although recent reports indicate that AEW’s FTR will team up with Flair in a Six-Man Tag match against Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and partner. During a recent interview on Oops: The Vicky Guerrero ShowFlair confirmed both FTR and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express that everything will be revealed on Monday, including the mystery partner.
“On Monday. It will be announced. There are four people I know for sure, FTR and the Rock ‘n Roll Express. The last one working on it right now,” Flair said. Flair also talked about why he’s coming out of retirement for another match, and for Flair, it’s all about ending his wrestling career on his terms.
“Because I wasn’t happy with the way it came out. I wrestled because I needed money at the time because of a divorce and divorce lawyer. I don’t do it for money now. I can always make money. I worked hard. When I came here, I started working. With Rob, John Cena’s coach. I feel better now mentally and physically than I did back then. I just want to go out on my own. I’ve been pushed into situations I didn’t like being in at the time. But then again, when you need money, The world is completely different when you’re not. So that’s on my terms.”
In his To Be The Man podcast, Flair addresses those who have been worried about his health, saying, “For the 30% of people worried about me getting in the ring and wrestling again, first of all, I assure you I’ve been in the ring a lot more than I showed.” On social media I’m in better shape now than I used to be, better now because I’m training with Rob, John Cena’s personal trainer, more cardio than I’ve ever been in my life. So I’m going to wear a T-shirt but I can assure you that in two and a half months, I’ll be putting into a clinic what real wrestling should be like,”
