Tiger Woods withdrew from the PGA Championship at Southern Hills after third round 79 but golf fans praised his efforts.
Golf fans can’t help but continue to admire Tiger Woods and the tribulations he overcame just to compete in The Masters and, a month later, the 2022 PGA Championship this week. Even more impressive was Woods making the cut in Augusta and then doing so after a poor first round in Southern Hills where he answered in Round 1 under 69 on Friday.
But during both rounds, Tiger was clearly in a great deal of pain. That was most evident Saturday in the third round as Woods struggled to navigate the cold conditions that took over Tulsa. Even worse, it starkly appeared on his scorecard as Woods scored 79 and was out of the top 70.
After the tour, Woods was asked about the possibility of withdrawing from the tournament and appeared to be open to the idea, a shocking discovery given his competitive nature. Shortly after the conclusion of the third round, the Women’s Professional Golfer’s Association of America revealed that Tiger Woods had already pulled out of the tournament.
Tiger Woods Withdraws From PGA Championship: Golf Fans Celebrate His Efforts
Rather than blaming the sport’s legendary figure, golf fans showed their appreciation for the grit and grit Woods showed just to crash and make the cut during Saturday’s appearance.
This last tweet is definitely fair to think about because Woods would definitely fight back if he had a chance of winning.
On the whole, though, in the long run it might be a good idea for Woods to take a run and let his body recover. If he was planning to play the US Open in Brooklyn, he would have the same burden due to the rugged mountainous terrain. The best thing he can do is take things easy where he can.
