Dwayne Johnson is one of the busiest actors In Hollywood, so when he takes a vacation, it is an interesting point for many. This time around, wrestling fans should be especially concerned about what might happen. It’s been reported that Johnson has essentially cleared his schedule in early 2023, which could be huge for fans of The Rock, given the good chance that he’ll be back in WWE for a while and potentially a big match or two.
There is definitely evidence to support this, such as Bryan Alvarez from The Wrestling Observer (via Is mandatory) stated that Dwayne Johnson is deliberately keeping his agenda clear when 2023 kicks off. Alvarez explained what the move might mean, if it were actually happening, to Johnson during that time:
Dwayne Johnson reportedly wants to help launch the XFL again as its newest owner, which is quite understandable and practical. However, wrestling fans are well aware that this 2023 time period also aligns squarely with the WrestleMania season. Hypothetically, if Johnson is really available from January to late March or early April, he could make a surprise comeback at the Royal Rumble and create a runner who establishes him a match at WrestleMania 39.
The rumors surfaced long before the latest WrestleMania PPV came out that claims WWE wants it rock lock for WrestleMania 39 Main event against cousin Roman times. The main reason rumors weren’t quite believable links to The Rock’s rampant acting roles and other commitments. Under his usual schedule, it always seemed like the best that could happen was that he would make an appearance at WrestleMania or make an appearance at WrestleMania as he did in years past. (Fans with a Peacock premium subscription can check out these.)
WWE fans want it, but everyone knows Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson isn’t at his prime with just a cameo, even if it’s during the biggest event of the year. Ideally, Rock could be able to appear in the lead up to WrestleMania (as in the past Feud with John CenaIt’s meant to deliver the full experience, and be a farewell of sorts to the wrestling legend. After all, this could be The Rock’s farewell tour if he’s actually going back to WWE for a noticeable extended period, so it would be best if the feud could develop in as much time and as much care as possible.
Wrestling fans should feel comfortable getting somewhat excited about the possibility of The Rock’s return, even with the understanding that this is all still in the rumor territory. We don’t know for sure if Dwayne Johnson will actually take any time off, nor what he will do either way. All we can do is wait and see and hopefully “the hottest man in sports-entertainment” will be back in the ring early next year.
The Rock is not currently with WWE, but his most famous matches have a spot on Peacock’s live stream. Hopefully fans will see another game added to the roster sometime in 2023, maybe more if we’re lucky.
