Kevin Garnett clears Lakers list of potential coaching candidates

After a report listed the finalists for a head coaching position with the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Garnett took to Instagram to make fun of him.

Once the Los Angeles Lakers fired Frank Vogel, everyone was wondering who they would bring in to replace him in hopes of eventually returning to the top level in the Western Conference. Names like Nick Nurse have been left out, but who did the Lakers come up with in their search? The finalists are former Portland Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts, Milwaukee Bucks assistant coach Darvin Hamm and former Brooklyn Nets coach Kenny Atkinson.

Former Boston Celtics player Kevin Garnett saw the list of finalists for the Lakers job, and took to his Instagram to make fun of it.

As mentioned, the Lakers were looking for big names once their season was over.

There have been rumors associated with the nurse, but both he and the Toronto Raptors head Masai Ujiri emphatically shut them down.

After that, there were links to Doc Rivers, especially after eliminating the Philadelphia 76ers in the playoffs. Even after 76ers president Daryl Morey said Rivers will return for next season, a new report says the Lakers have not “give up hope” of becoming available this summer.

The Lakers reportedly tried out the college ranks, and approached Michigan Wolverines coach Joan Howard for the job, which he turned down.

So far, the Lakers have Hamm, Atkinson and Stott in the playoffs. It’s an important decision, as the Lakers look to return from 11th in the Western Conference and star LeBron James enters the final year of his current contract.

Things could change, but if the Lakers go with either candidate, Garnett won’t accept.
