White Sox coach Ethan Katz delivered harsh words to the MLB after the league suspended Josh Donaldson for just one game over comments he made to Tim Anderson.
White Sox members aren’t entirely satisfied with the punishment Josh Donaldson received for making “inappropriate comments” towards Tim Anderson.
It all fell apart on Saturday when Donaldson called Anderson “Jackie,” a reference to Jackie Robinson. Anderson and Chicago felt he was disrespectful and insensitive to racism. Donaldson claimed it was a hilarious nod to Anderson referring to himself as the modern Robinson in a 2019 interview.
MLB agreed that Donaldson’s comments were “disrespectful and in bad judgment” while the third baseman was suspended for a match and fined an undisclosed amount. He is appealing the sentence.

For White Sox coach Ethan Katz, commenting isn’t enough.
“Only one game. We all saw his third-place grudge a week ago, and then that suspension with a ridiculous excuse followed. What is the point or message behind the one-game suspension?” Katz tweeted. “This is very frustrating and incredibly frustrating.”
Others in the organization found punishment to be lacking as well. Pitcher Joe Kelly recalled how he was suspended for eight games for being a face at Carlos Correa while playing for the Dodgers.
Kelly instigated a brawl to clear the seats when he was directed toward Korea. The MLB acknowledged Donaldson’s suspension was a “contributing factor” to the clearing fight between the White Sox and the Yankees.
The suspension won’t affect the Yankees immediately since Donaldson just landed on the COVID injury list anyway.
