PlayStation Plus subscribers split over reported price increase

Reports emerging from Asia have bad news for PlayStation Plus subscribers, or at least for PS Plus subscribers who tried to save money by exploiting a vulnerability related to the new PlayStation Plus. More specifically, on Reddit, users outside of Asia reported that after getting a subscription to the new PS Plus at a discount and/or after using the stack method that includes PS Now, they are charged an upgrade fee to make up for that discount. In other words, Sony gets its money back.

This is especially bad news for those who have piled on subscriptions for years and years, because it means they haven’t saved any money but now have years and years of subscriptions. As you might expect, this news is not good with many PlayStation fans, however, some defended Sony’s decision.

Amplifying the discussion is the fact that both Xbox and Nintendo recently allowed users to exploit these similar vulnerabilities, making PlayStation the outlier, or apparent, that Sony hasn’t confirmed that this is the plan in Asia, let alone wholesale. If this changes, we’ll make sure to update the story accordingly.
