Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey called for action and said America should “rearrange values” in response to the school shooting in his hometown of Ovaldi, Texas.

“The real call to action now is for every American to take a longer and deeper look in the mirror and ask ourselves, ‘What do we really value? How do we fix the problem? What small sacrifices can we individually make today to maintain a healthier and safer nation, nation, and neighborhood tomorrow?

McConaughey extended his prayers to the families and said America needed to “rearrange values” and “find common ground” after the tragedy.
“Action must be taken so that no parent has to experience what parents endure in Ovaldi and the others before them,” the actor added.
McConaughey was born in Ovaldi to a Mississippi-born father James Donald McConaughey and a New Jersey-born Mary Kathleen mother. He grew up in Longview, Texas.

What happened in Uvald?
As reported by CBSAt least 19 children and two adults were killed after a gunman opened fire on Robb Primary School in Ovaldi, authorities said on Tuesday.
Officials said the gunman, 18-year-old Salvador Rolando Ramos, entered the school around 11:30 a.m. after crashing his vehicle near the school. Ramos had earlier shot his grandmother. The newspaper reported that the gunman was killed at the scene by law enforcement officers.
Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Eric Estrada told CBS that the gunman’s grandmother was in critical condition as of Tuesday evening.

Uvalde is a city in the county seat of Uvalde County, Texas, with a population of more than 15,000 people, according to the 2020 census.
The city is located approximately 80 miles (130 km) west of San Antonio and 54 miles (87 km) from the US-Mexico border.
