Doctor Strange in a multiverse of madness It has been in theaters for nearly a month now, and its impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still being felt. The film takes some innovative and unexpected approaches to the world of Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), in a creative style led by director Sam Raimi. One of the most notable features of the Multiverse of Madness is the notepad fight easily between two versions of Doctor Strange — and according to a new report from Marvel.com, its revival was unique, and included an unexpected note from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
Composer Danny Elfman said, “When Sam first described it to me, I said to Sam, ‘I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.'” Literally, not figuratively, these notes fly off the page. She worked different classic pieces against each other; Kind of famous cut. Then, at the 59th minute of the 11th, at the end Kevin Feige jumped in and I said to simplify it just to Beethoven vs. Bach. I made another pass in it as Beethoven’s “Fifth Symphony” against Bach’s “Toccata and Vosges”. It really worked out perfectly.”
“We wanted to do something unusual because we had Doctor Strange versus Sinister Strange,” Remy replied. “We didn’t want them to cast fists, and we didn’t even want their classic spells against each other. We wanted something we hadn’t seen before. I thought it would be really cool if they used music as a weapon against each other.”
“With the help of wonderful storyboard artist Doug Leffler, we developed a sequence,” Remy continued. “A lot of people contributed to that, including Bryan Andrews, director of What If…? We had to design the notes in a way that would make a huge impact on screen, so Kevin [Feige] Help me get Brian on board to design the colors and shape of the notes so they really have a feel of their own.”
