Weird things It was never what one might call a light chain. Even from the first season, the Netflix series was full of darkness woven into its story. But season four made things even darker than previous seasons and now, series producer Sean Levy talks about the season’s tone, admitting he was nervous at times because the series was so dark, but ultimately feels the show’s tone is “superpowerful.”
talk with The Hollywood ReporterAnd the Levi admitted there were talks about the fourth season of Weird things He took a pretty grim leap, but the audience always manages to grow with the series, no matter what is thrown at them.
“There was,” Levi said. “I was nervous every once in a while because the show was so dark, and that would be annoying to the younger viewers who flocked to our show. When we started the first season, we thought this was some kind of watching experience for 13 years or more. What we know now is that kids aged Between 9 and 10 years old watching Weird thingsAnd I knew this season was going to be pretty scary for some of those viewers. The Duffers, to their credit, noted that every time we go into the dark, our audience somehow stays with us and grows. While I don’t have numbers yet for Season 4, I see what I’ve seen in every previous season, which is the amount of engagement and enthusiasm on social media. And it’s as if again, getting darker didn’t hurt us. Perhaps that helped us because the show and our audience, like I said, are growing up and developing along with our young stars.”
Levi added that darkness exists Weird thingsThe great power is that even with the darkness, the show remains balanced.
“I think that’s the superpower of the show,” Levy said. “No matter how dark we are Weird thingsIt’s always in balance with the heart. I really think that’s what makes Stranger Things so unique — as well as the many stylistic instincts that the Duffers have, that make the show worthy of being so greedy. He has that warm and emotional heart beating, in telling the stories of the characters, that’s the antidote; This is the balance between all blood and darkness. I really feel that one without the other is not going to work in the same way that Stranger Things seem to offer.”
