Commentators on the 2022 French Open Final, the second grand slam

These are the tennis Grand Slams of the year as the French Open draws to a close at Roland Garros, but who are the commentators? Who else is part of the broadcast for coverage from Paris?

The finalists for the 2022 French Open have been decided as new faces and old dogs battle it out on the clay at Roland Garros.

The women’s singles event takes place on Saturday 4 June as world number one Iga Swiatek battles American Coco Gauff for the title.

In the men’s singles, Casper Ruud is playing his first Grand Slam final but faces the ultimate test, as he faces court master Rafael Nadal on Sunday, June 5th.

This article will refer to the commentary team for Eurosport’s broadcast of the finals in the European market.

For the women’s final between Swiatek and Gauff, the commentators are Simon Reed and Jo Durie.

Reed is a longtime announcer for Eurosport – he is often handed over to the finals. He covered the finals for the broadcaster from the Australian Open in January.

He has also commented on TV shows like dancing on Ice in the UK.

Reed’s outstanding teammate in the French Open Women’s Final is the former British League player.

Major League spent 18 years as a professional, winning two mixed doubles titles in 1987 (Wimbledon) and 1991 (Australia).

You have never won a singles or doubles title.

The rest of the Eurosport team

The rest of the Eurosport commentator/critics team at the French Open finals are made up of former tennis players.

Former Austrian player Barbara Schitt is the main broadcaster for Eurosport, joined on site by Grand Slam winner Mats Wellander.

Seven-time Grand Slam champion Wellander has won three of his four tournaments – the Swede missed Wimbledon from his group.

Tim Henman is also part of the team – the former Briton who has never won major titles – reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon, Roland Garros and Flushing Meadows.

Chris Evert is part of the final commentator/critics team for the French Open.

Zooming in from her home in Florida, Evert is an 18-time Grand Slam champion – and her record of 34 Grand Slam finals remains unbeaten in tennis history.

The French Open was Evert’s most successful Grand Slam as he won it seven times between 1974 and 1986.
