The Los Angeles Angels set their 12-game winning streak limit on Tuesday, firing manager Joe Maddon. The front office felt they had no choice at this point.
Just a few weeks ago, the Angels had the second best record in baseball, which is reflected in our MLB Power Rankings. Now, in the midst of the longest losing streak of the season, they have fired their manager.

It all starts in Los Angeles with their two stars – Mike Trout and Shohei Otani. It’s built around these two players, in whom they’ve invested quite a bit of money (and more to come with Ohtani). “I’m interested in analytics, but not to the point where everyone wants to shove it down the throat. Real baseball people have been somewhat affected by all of this. You can’t go to the ballpark and have some fun and play baseball. Front offices are controlled a lot these days.”
