Shark Week 2022 gets its first teaser and premiere date from Discovery Channel

Whatever the temperatures may be outside, Discovery Channel fans know it’s not really summer until we start preparing for the most anticipated event of the year, the network’s week-long program focused on ferocious fish. Discovery announced today that this year’s Shark Week will begin on Sunday, July 24. Fans were also treated to a teaser that plunges us deep into the ocean to see things from the perspective of a seal, because their relationship to sharks is understandably much different than it is to viewers. Check out the teaser below and stay tuned for details on this year’s Shark Week before it begins on Sunday, July 24.

Discovery describes the event, “Make your heart beat next July with the return of TV’s longest-running and most anticipated summer event, Shark Week! The annual television event returns for the historic 34th year with Big Sharks, Bigger Breakouts, and Biggest Results from Teams of Scientists and Researchers Devoted to the Industry starting Sunday, July 24th on Discovery and discovery+.

“This year is marked by non-stop action as Shark Week takes viewers to new locations – from the Exuma Islands in the Bahamas to Papua New Guinea. The week highlights innovative shark technology and research to find fascinating information on these elusive creatures, their mating migration patterns as well as new discoveries New non-described species.

“The Impractical Jokers have spent a decade trying to outdo and humiliate others, and are now ready to use their antics for the greater good – teaching sharks! A hysterical adventure that can only come from the Impractical Joker.”

The first Shark Week was held in 1988 and presented the audience with 10 programs of the thriving cable channel developed specifically for the event. Its popularity in subsequent summers resulted in the return of Shark Week, which has begun adding hosts over the years to attract more viewers. Discovery Channel has recruited its own characters, like my host mythbusters or Dirty tasksMike Rowe, while recent years have seen hosts such as Andy Samberg and Shaquille O’Neal and horror film director Eli Roth.
