WhatsApp finally starts rolling out chat transfers from Android to iOS

After years of users claiming the ability to transfer WhatsApp data from iPhones to Android and back, the Meta-owned messenger finally took a dip last year. However, it initially only allowed users to transfer chats from iPhone to select Android devices. Earlier this year, we learned that WhatsApp was about to roll out support for chat transfers from Android to iOS. And now, WhatsApp users will finally be able to migrate their chat data from their Android device to iPhone.

According to a recent Facebook post by Meta Mark Zuckerberg, WhatsApp is now adding support for data transfers from Android to iOS. The feature is currently in beta and allows users to migrate their entire WhatsApp account, including chats, account information, profile picture, chat history, media, and settings, from Android to iOS. As you would expect, WhatsApp is rolling out the feature gradually and it may take some time before it reaches all users. However, it’s great to see WhatsApp finally delivers on its promise.

As the official WhatsApp documentation notes, there are some limitations to the feature. First, you will need to have Android 5.0 Lollipop or later installed on your Android device, while the iPhone must be running iOS 15.5 or later. The data migration feature also requires the Move to iOS app to be installed on your Android device. Furthermore, you must be running WhatsApp for Android version 2.22.7.74 and WhatsApp for iOS version 2.22.10.70 or higher for the feature to work.

For the feature to work as intended, your iPhone must be reset to factory settings to pair with the Move to iOS app, both devices must be connected to a power source, and they must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If you have just switched from an Android device to an iPhone and want to migrate your WhatsApp data, you can follow the steps given below in the source link below.
