Super Hero reveals his original leadership

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero It’s finally here, and fans in Japan flock to theaters in honor of the comeback. After all, the movie marks the anime’s first debut since Broly’s return in 2018. This time around, Gohan and Piccolo are at the helm, and a new conversation with the film’s producers reveals that the duo wasn’t originally supposed to headline the movie.

The update comes from Akio Iyoku himself as the executive producer of the movie gave an interview to the anime’s official website. It was there that the CEO was asked about the tag team leads, and Iyoku admitted Dragon BallThe creator did not intend Gohan to join Piccolo in the lead.

“In fact, [Akira] Toriyama-sensei’s original idea was for only Piccolo to be the lead, but I paid Gohan, so the two ended up as co-stars,” he said.

As you can imagine, this update surprised some fans. Piccolo and Gohan are definitely close, so it’s hard to imagine Namekian playing a leading role without being under his care. However, that’s what Toriyama originally wanted when he started crafting the plot for this movie. Iyoku was able to convince Toriyama to include Gohan at the end, so Piccolo didn’t have to bear the brunt of this movie alone.

Soon, fans will have the opportunity to watch Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero for themselves outside Japan. Crunchyroll has already announced a slew of international releases for the film including in the United States. The anime’s return will land in the US in August, so fans can decide if adding Gohan is the right move.
