GKID made the announcement using the official Twitter account, wrapping up the film with this new story for NERV and calling it one of the greatest animated films ever made:

GKIDs shared an official description of the final movie in the movie quartet at Rebuild Evangelion Movie series like Three times each time Getting ready to hit theaters later this year:

Misato and her anti-NERV group Wille arrive in Paris, a city that is now red from the core. Crew from the Wunder Land flagship in a containment tower. They only have 720 seconds to take back the city. When a horde of NERV Evas appears, Mari’s improved Eva 8 unit must be intercepted. Meanwhile, Shinji, Asuka, and Rei (temporary name) are roaming Japan.”
Currently, there are no new plans we know of to bring Evangelion back into the anime world, though the latest poster promoting “Shin Universe” holds Eva Unit 01 joining the likes of Godzilla, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman. With Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno working on this new Shin world, many fans are wondering if we’re ready to see a futuristic crossover that unites all of these legendary creations into one story.
