Characters are what you make of them, and when it comes to anime, creators face tough choices when it comes to featuring their stars. From josei to shonen, every demographic has different expectations for manga leadership. Some heroes rise to the occasion while others are left to disappear into the background. And now, Naruto Fandom sparked a viral controversy on social media about the show and its female team.
The argument is not as new as it has long been criticized by fans Naruto and his treatment of female characters. From Sakura to Tinten and even Karin, the women of the series have constantly fallen by the wayside while other women like Rock Lee have thrived. Some argue that the shonen demographic justifies the lack of nurturing while others assert that the female characters in the story have more than we prefer. Of course, it was only a matter of time before the debate broke out again.
