City of Hope, one of the largest cancer research and treatment organizations in the United States and a leading research center for diabetes and other life-threatening diseases, has announced that the 2022 Spirit of Life Gala organized by its music, film and entertainment industry group will perform. The ceremony will take place on October 27, 2022, at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles – the first after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. As previously announced, Republic Records founders and CEOs and brothers Monte and Avery Lipman will be honored with the prestigious Spirit of Life award at the event.

“I am excited to be a part of the City of Hope gala honoring my friends Monty and Avery Lipman,” Johnson said. “For the past 20 years, they have always been there for me. It is now my turn to highlight them and the important work they are doing with the City of Hope!”

The Spirit of Life Award is the City of Hope’s most prestigious award, awarded to industry leaders around the world who have made a significant commitment to advancing research and clinical innovation and to providing personalized, compassionate care. Honorees are chosen for their outstanding contributions to the society in which they live and the profession in which they work.

Previous winners of the Music, Film and Entertainment Industry Group include Sylvia Ron, John Platt, Mo Austin, Clive Davis, Quincy Jones, Frances W. Preston, Shelley and Irving Azoff, Edgar Bronfman Jr., Doug Morris and Lucien Greene. The campaign led by Lipmans will raise awareness and provide funds to accelerate pioneering cancer treatment and care for patients and families across the country.
