The Flash star talks about this shocking turn of spoiler in ‘Negative, Part One’

To say that the eighth season of Sparkle One wild curved ball was going to be a serious understatement. Between the ‘death’ of Joe West in ‘Armageddon’, Eris’ nausea escalation, the death of Frost, the return of the original Ebbard Twain (performed by Matt Letcher) and John Diggle finally last week with this mysterious green cube from the Arrow finale, The Flash has managed to dump all break points this season. But the season’s penultimate episode, “Negative, Part One” this week, threw fans into another wild twist and now Tom Cavanagh is opening up about seeing Thawne in ways fans might not have seen coming.

Warning: The spoiler for “Negative, Part One” is beyond the point. If you haven’t watched the episode yet, come back now.

In the episode, viewers discover exactly what Deon (Christian Magby) wants with Thawne (Cavanagh) as well as why Iris (Candice Patton) is ill through a series of wild discoveries that begin with a shocking scene: Deon kills Thawne, using the constant power of aging a centuries-old man in an instant. , and dumped his practically mummified corpse on the floor of his dungeon at Lian Yu – but not before promising him that he would continue to receive everything he owed. By the end of the episode, we’ve found out in a horrifying way exactly what that means. It turns out that when Barry took Thawne’s speed, he erased the force of negative speed, destabilized the other negative forces, and sent them on a mission to take revenge on Barry (Grant Gustin). The Deon we’ve seen this season is actually Negative Deon and he’s responsible for making Iris sick which in turn weakens the rest of the powers. While this is a very sinister thing, it still gets worse. After Eobard (Letscher) gains speed powers – thanks to sharing the force from Meena (Kausar Mohammed), Deon uses it to revive fans more familiar with Thawne. Thawne is literally out of Cavanagh from Eobard, and he’s back stronger than ever.

While the notion that one couldn’t keep Cavanagh’s Thawne/Reverse Flash for long isn’t a surprise in itself, exactly how Thawne ended up on top is an unanticipated development, Kavanagh said. ComicBook.comIt is interesting to him that the series was able to achieve such a big surprise.

“That’s interesting to me. I love it, because, especially for people who know the show well and probably in many ways better than I know the show, it’s good to hear that because you always wonder, is this week just telegraphing? One of the great things about the arc that’s coming Now, I guess, is that the writers room has taken the opportunity to show Thawne in ways we haven’t seen very often. Normally, when it’s iconic flash versus reverse flash and the likeness I want to use they hover their fingers over the triggers, aren’t they? Ready to use their superpowers and in this version, Reverse Flash, Thawne doesn’t have any superpowers, so it’s really on the low end because when you take something that defines someone away from them, they’re kind of disconnected and careless and that was an unusual feeling to play while playing someone who’s always 10 or 15 ahead of everyone else year, and I really enjoyed it.”

Kavanagh continued, “There are various iterations of this streak on the show over the course of seven or eight years, someone has been saying ‘Yeah, he’s always had a plan’ and he really does.” It’s one of the reasons why his wit and dedication to this bond, like crazy, is a bond between flash and reverse flash, and his dedication to this bond has made him more ready and super and more prepared for what’s to come and it felt like a beautiful change because for once, I think we see him…someone Another has the upper hand, in terms of readiness, which is a rarity for him. “

For Kavanagh, it was Thawne’s wild perversion that he said must feel new and original to him because of his interest in the character he’s crafted for so long, and in the end, he feels the writers have done a “cool” job.

“Every time we’re going to use Eobard Thawne, I’d say I’m overprotective, but I think it’s a little confusing because the actors, that’s why I’m doing the show yet at the same time I don’t want to be overprotective,” Kavanagh said. Selling it and exposing it.” β€œIt’s really crazy. So, in other words, even though I like to turn on reverse flash, I don’t want to turn on reverse flash because I feel like you don’t want that to be diluted because when they come together, versus reverse flash, it seems in many ways, in terms of villainy, the purest of our show. And so, on this show, I thought “Will he rise to the category of is it worth telling?” He certainly is. It feels fresh and innovative.”

he added. Braces are deeply rooted in SparkleAnd I think they did a great job.”

Sparkle It airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
