PS Plus Premium UK just got better with Sony confirming a wanted feature | Games | entertainment

PS Plus Premium has finally launched in the UK, and it’s better than expected thanks to the much-needed feature that Sony is planning to release. One of the biggest draws about PS Plus Premium is the built-in Classics library which offers up to 340 PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP games to play, as well as up to 400 PS4 and PS5 games with PS Plus Extra and free versions Monthly games are available and the ability to play Online multiplayer with PS Plus Essential. Regarding the PS1 library, there was one thing that fans of old games were afraid of.

And that’s how fast these games run.

As with the PlayStation Classic Console, there have been concerns that older PS1 games included with the service would not play well if the 50Hz PAL versions were made available.

To help with terminology, the original PAL PS1 games primarily run at 50Hz frame rates while the US PS1 games are at 60Hz.

This means that US versions run faster, with PAL versions about 20 percent slower.

When the PlayStation Classic Console launched, some PAL games were included in the mini console, which seemed noticeably slower when played on modern TVs.

And there were concerns that we might have a bit of history to repeat with PS Plus.

Sony was releasing the revamped PS Plus on various dates regionally, and when the service debuted in Asia, some of the classic games available with Premium were the slower PAL versions.

Thankfully, Sony has now confirmed that PS Plus Premium will get 60Hz options for “the majority” of classic games in a wide range of regions including the UK.

On PS Plus UK launch day, the official PlayStation Twitter confirmed: “We plan to roll out NTSC options for the majority of classic games offered on the PlayStation Plus Premium and Deluxe plan in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, India, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.”

The PS Plus Premium library includes some of the popular PS1 games including the original Siphon Filter, Tekken 2, and Ape Escape.

And as a bonus for bounty hunters, it has been confirmed that trophy support will be available for some classic games.

For anyone considering subscribing to the new PS Plus, there is one important thing to keep in mind.

While PS Plus Premium is more expensive each month than Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, it’s cheaper if you pay for a year up front.

PS Plus Premium is priced at £13.49 a month, £39.99 for three months and £99.99 a year.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate costs £10.99 a month, but you can’t buy a yearly option, so XGP Ultimate works out to be more expensive over 12 months.
