yOdge Benny Azcaret ruled Friday that Amber Heard should pay Johnny Depp $10.35 million in damages after a jury in Virginia found it unfairly portrayed him as abusive, according to the New York Post.
A Fairfax County judge agreed with jurors that Heard must pay Depp $10.35 million, down from $15 million due to caps set by state law.
Judge Azakarate also stated that Heard must pay the full $10.35 million from the ruling plus $480,000 (6% interest) if she is to appeal.
The case will be transferred to the Virginia Court of Appeals after 21 days and the parties will have 30 days to file a notice of appeal.
Amber Heard plans to appeal
Heard’s lawyers previously claimed she was unable to pay Depp’s $10.35 million in damages because legal fees left her “bankrupt”.
Despite the claim, a spokesperson for Heard revealed that the 36-year-old “Aquaman” actress plans to file an appeal.
“Do not ask for pardon if you are innocent. Do not refuse to appeal if you know you are right,” a Heard spokesman said in a statement.
Reportedly, Depp is open about not getting Heard to pay him, and will not appeal the $2 million he owes her over his former attorney’s allegations that she was misrepresented.
