With some of the best TVs on the market, LG just released details of a new set of powerful speakers designed to enhance your home theater experience with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X format support, and center speakers.
There are six new models in total, including the S95QR ($1799), S90QY ($1199), S80QR ($TBC), S80QY ($899), S75Q ($599) and S65Q ($399). While we haven’t yet dealt with any of the models in the new lineup, the flagship S95QR appears to be the most interesting in terms of total power output of 810W, making it LG’s most powerful speaker yet.
9.1.5 channel configuration, uses 15 speakers throughout the surround speaker package, and includes a dedicated wireless rear surround and wireless subwoofer.
The S95QR tweeters themselves use three woofers (which includes a brand-new center-fire trigger), plus there are two additional drivers in the wireless rear. All of the S95QR’s speakers on previous flagship designs have been upgraded to larger models meant to deliver deeper bass tones said to mimic the immersive sound of a movie theater.
The S95QR Package’s wireless rear speakers have also been upgraded with four front/side drivers – along with two of the drivers described above. The improved configuration is said to distribute sound evenly across a wider area, and facilitate flexible speaker placement for a more immersive sound experience no matter what size of room they are placed in.

Compatible with special features When used with LG OLED TVs, LG TV Sound Mode aims to offer the best of both worlds by utilizing the TV’s superior audio processing capabilities while relying on richer speaker drivers (and subwoofers, where included) out of the audio processor.
Even if you can’t match one of LG’s new soundbars with one of its TVs, the new lineup offers some good feature speaker systems. Models including the flagship S95QR through the S75Q support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats. HDMI eARC ports come standard on all models with Dolby Vision pass-through support as well as HDMI 2.1, and there’s an Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for gamers who appreciate movement and sound on the screen while syncing as well. Room calibration is said to have been improved, and there is compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
As with many of the latest soundbars, the audio output of LG’s 2022 speaker range has been tuned by Meridian Audio. The British audio specialist has also contributed to Meridian Horizon technology, which turns two-channel stereo sound into a multi-channel audio experience for surround speaker setups.
Additionally, there is a new addition on LG called Wowcast (Opens in a new tab) ($99) Allows lossless, multi-channel wireless connectivity from any HDMI ARC/eARC-equipped TV to the S95QR, S90QY, S80QY, and S80QR Wi-Fi enabled speakers.
All models are available via LG website (Opens in a new tab) And choose authorized LG dealers. Personally, I’m looking forward to getting to grips with the new flagship S95QR and seeing how it compares to the best Dolby Atmos speakers we’ve seen so far.
