A disgruntled Simon Cowell is finally defeated by an AGT contestant dancing on the pole, but now she’s talking about the stigma attached

american talents The place to be on TV for a variety of acts ranging from shocking to super talented to downright questionable, judge Simon Cowell wasn’t entirely happy when he learned that a pole dancer was on the list for a chance to win a million dollars and did it in Las Vegas. Dancer Kristi Cellars didn’t get a confidence vote from him before she started, but he changed his tune eventually, and now she’s talked about it.

Australian pole dancer Kristi Cellars was all smiles when she took the stage, but Cowell reacted quite differently once she said she was there with a pole dancing act. In the quiz episode (in which you can rewatch the broadcast Peacock subscription), he immediately sat down in his chair and, looking annoyed, told his fellow judges that he considered it “useless”. A few minutes and a single act of complex to 2WEI’s “Hit The Road Jack,” Cowell joined Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara in a standing ovation. Sellars later spoke with TMZsaying:

As you can imagine, the pole has a stain attached to it. It’s been a long time, so I’m kind of used to it. And I like to prove people wrong. I kind of like opening their eyes to different possibilities, because at the end of the day, it’s just a vertical piece of steel, so what you do with it is on your mind. So I didn’t really record that his attitude was like this. I think I was very nervous, and Heidi was talking to me, and I was very focused and in frame of my mind, because the act – if I missed one thing, if I was a centimeter from the side, t work. So I was in my area and just wanted to make the best show possible.
