Jon Moxley wins the AEW Interim World Championship at Forbidden Door: Best Tweets, Memes

Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi competed for the Interim World Championship in AEW at Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling dream-per-view, Forbidden Door, were held at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The main event of the show was Jon Moxley facing Hiroshi Tanahashi for the temporary AEW World Championship. Current champion CM Punk, who defeated “Hangman” Adam Page at the Double or Nothing in May for the title, is currently sidelined due to injury.

To see who would represent AEW and eventually face Punk when he returns to unite the titles, Moxley and Tanahashi battled in the main event. Moxley triumphed after hitting Tanahashi with his final move, Death Rider, to win the interim title.

Twitter Reacts to Jon Moxley Winning the Interim AEW World Championship

Twitter users responded to Moxley’s title win by defeating Tanahashi in a dream match at Forbidden Door.

Ending moves were exchanged, from hitting Moxley to model-shifting to performing Tanahashi’s High Fly Flow, but neither finished the match. At one point in the match, Moxley appeared on the floor of the ring with blood spurting from his head.

In the end, it was Moxley who was victorious after hitting Tanahashi with the Death Rider, and he stood tall with the temporary championship.

Moxley’s celebration was interrupted due to an attack by the Jericho Appreciation Society. Moxley’s team, the Blackpool Combat Club, will face Jericho’s group in a Blood and Guts Cage match on AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, June 29. Just when the odds were against the Blackpool Combat Club, new member Claudio Castagnoli managed to tackle.

Now, Moxley is the interim champ and is ready for a crash course against Punk when he comes back from his injury.
