Pokemon TCG Player competes in the North American International Championships with Jumbo Deck

a Pokemon Trading Card Game The player gets creative with his Pokémon card deck this weekend during the North American International Tournament. A player named Matthew Verve entered the North American International, the highest-grossing regional tournament in North America, with a deck entirely made up of massive promotional cards. The 60-card deck contains only Pokemon cards, as the Pokemon Company has never printed jumbo cards or energy cards. Verive withdrew from the tournament after one official match, in part because none of the Pokémon were actually able to attack due to a lack of energy.

Verive received a deck check during the competition, but his deck was considered legal because the official Pokemon card rules do not specify that cards must be of normal size. However, the stewards told Verive that if he does not exit the tournament, his group will likely be ineligible due to “tagged cards”. Since the jumbo cards are promotional only, they are not printed to the standards of regular Pokemon cards, which meant that some cards were easy to identify.

Obviously this was an unworkable gimmick, but Verive noted that it almost certainly caused the rules to change. Talk to IGNVerve has indicated that he expects to change the rules soon to limit card sizes.

With the North American International Championships over, attention is now turning to the Pokémon World Championships, which will take place in mid-August in London. The Pokémon World Championships will feature tournaments for Pokémon video games (referred to as VGC), and pokemon trading card game, pokemon go, pokemon unite, And the Boken Championship. Champions will be crowned in three separate divisions, each determined by age.
