WB Games developers explain Robin’s gameplay and storyline

Gotham Knights It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest games released this fall, and as such, we’re finally starting to see more of the game in action. To that end, developer WB Games Montreal today released a new trailer for the title that specifically highlighted Robin. And while this trailer does a good job of giving us a quick idea of what Robin will be up to in play, the pair of developers behind the project have shed more light on what to expect from the popular Batman character in the upcoming game.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, WB Games Montreal Director of Narrative Ann Lemay and Director of Animation Lloyd Colaco spoke to us more about all things Robin in Gotham Knights. Colaco opened up to us about the process of creating a gameplay unique to Robin compared to other riders, which included extensive motion capture sessions with professional martial artists. He also touched on how Robin is a more stealth-focused character compared to Nightwing, Red Hood, and Batgirl, which means he has certain abilities at his disposal that are significantly different from the other heroes.

The most exciting thing LeMay said about Robin’s involvement in it Gotham Knights It is that it tells a story related to the character that you don’t see directly related to Batman. For the most part, many of the Robin stories in the Batman media tend to always involve the Dark Knight because Boy Wonder is his friend. Gotham Knights Instead, he gets a version of Tim Drake looking to fill the void left by Batman in the wake of his death.

“We always knew we wanted to veer towards the younger Robin to have a good age group among the riders. They all have a different age and perspective that comes with that, but also, Tim specifically as a character is the one who spent the most time with Bruce. Both Tim with Bruce and Robin with Batman,” LeMay told us. “That’s how he defines himself now because Batman doesn’t exist anymore. He has expressed that Batman and Bruce believe in him. That’s a big part of what we do with Tim as a character in the game. And there are scenes that are going to be about that and how he asks about that and how he depends on the people from Turn it around to help it brown too. That’s part of his evolution and his story in the game.”
