In the wake of the stunning Stanley Cup Finals, NHL free agency is coming to an end.

The Colorado Avalanche defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning to win this year’s Stanley Cup in an exciting streak.

With the defining series of hockey now behind us, it’s time for teams to turn their attention to the draft, which takes place on July 7 and July 8, and then to the NHL Free Agency, which opens July 13 at noon ET.

Some of the potential stars set to become free agents have already signed new contracts with their current clubs including Bryan Rust of the Penguins and Mark Giordano of Maple Leafs. Patrice Bergeron and Riley Smith have reportedly agreed to re-sign with the Bruins and Golden Knights, respectively, too.

NHL Free Agency: Who are the 10 players you should keep an eye on?

#10 – Andrew Cobb Center (New York Rangers)

Few of the deadline acquisitions have made a bigger impact than what Andrew Cope did for the New York Rangers after coming across the trade from the Winnipeg Jets. Cup is a versatile player who can fill in where he needs to be and this is of immense value in today’s game.

By moving to a free agency for the first time in his eight-year career, Cobb is completely in payday queue after his stock starts to go through the roof as a Rangers member.

Cope, who is still only 27, scored 18 points in 16 games for New York in the regular season and then another 14 in the playoffs. He did everything right in an effort to secure some serious money in a free agency.

#9 – Defensesman John Kleinberg (Dallas Stars)

29-year-old John Klingberg is one of the most valuable defenders in the free agent category of the year and is on the front line with serious payday. He has signed a very friendly deal with the All-Stars team which is due to expire and he will finally be able to get his raise more than he got.

Klingberg’s three-time star, Klingberg wasn’t able to repeat the 2017-18 season as he scored 67 points, but he’s still one of the best defensive tackles in the game. In 74 games with the All-Stars last season, Klingberg placed 47 points in the regular season and an extra point in the playoffs.

Klingberg is a well-respected part of the Dallas Stars club and it has been reported that both the player and the squad will be open to a new contract. The only problem with that is the fact that the stars have already dedicated a significant portion of their money to Miro Heskanen, Issa Lindell, and Ryan Sutter. The desire to return it is there but the money may not be.
