The latest news on Yordan Alvarez, Jeremy Peña

A massive collision between Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Peña left the Astros without two of their best players against the Mets. How are they now?

The Houston Astros panicked on Wednesday when Yordan Alvarez was forced off the court after colliding with Jeremy Peña.

The left player and the short player bumped into each other while trying to play a pop-up fly to the shallow left. Peña completed the hunt and was taken out, but it was not without cost.

Alvarez and Peña shared the brunt of the collision, leaving both of them for a few moments. While Peña was able to walk under his own power, Alvarez took a chariot from the field.

After the game Houston won 2-0, manager Dusty Baker provided an update.

“They are evaluated by doctors,” Becker said. Per Mark Berman. “Penya said he is fine of course. Jordan wanted to stay in the game. Jordan is not the person you would choose to meet and neither is Pena because they are both well built.”

Alvarez managed to enter the club under his own power, In Chandler, Rome. So that’s at least a good sign. However, it was not made available to the media after that.

The team later revealed that they are undergoing evaluation for concussions, in Rome.

Concussions can put the two off some games, but it’s too early to say how long Houston might be without them.

As for Wednesday’s game, Chas McCormick entered the match for Alvarez while Mauricio Dupont replaced Peña on the field.

The Astros and Mets both took closing in the ninth inning before Jason Castro broke the deadlock with two races at home.
