The Wizards locked Bradley Bell in a new giant Supermax deal worth $251 million over five years. Will he see the end of that decade in Washington?
Not a season goes by without Bradley Bell being raised as a potential trading option. And no off-season passes without staying with the witches.
His free agency went into 2022 in the blink of an eye as he signed what was the biggest contract in NBA history for $251 million over five years. He was outdone by Nikola Jokic by $264 million soon after, but the fact remains that Bale just made a ton of money to stay with a team that doesn’t seem to have many higher aspirations.
Very few people would turn down a quarter of a million dollars. So it’s no surprise that Bill took the deal. The question is whether he will remain in Washington when it is finished.
Will Bradley Bell end his super deal with the Wizards?
You never know with athletes. They can and will change their mind. One year, Washington may be enough for Bell. Next time, he might see his hopes of winning a championship fade away and seek that trophy elsewhere.
However, Bill certainly looks like someone who is content with where he is.
“[Legacy] He’s a huge guy because I’ve been here a long time. I have embraced this city since day one and I feel like I have embraced this city again. This is my second home,” Bell told NBC Sports earlier this year before the Supermax contract came to fruition.
Bale has played for Washington since 2012 when he was the No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft. He signed a multi-year contract in 2016. He has only had two winning seasons in the six seasons since then. So he knows what will happen this time.
