Los Angeles Dodgers player Mookie Betts is days away from returning, and he could be playing on the field instead of on the field.
Weeks ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers put star star Mocky Bates on their list of injured after suffering a broken rib. This caused the team to quickly trade Trayce Thompson to fill the void. Now, faithful Dodgers can expect to return to the team in a relatively quick fashion.
Dodgers coach Dave Roberts revealed on July 2 that the Bates have a chance to return either in the July 3 game against the San Diego Padres or on the July 4 against the Colorado Rockies.
Roberts also revealed that Bates will play at second base upon his return.
Dodgers: Mookie Betts could soon be back and playing second base
Roberts explained why Bates played second. The manager said it was a matter of facilitating throws, and that Bates didn’t want to play the designated hitter position.
Bates originally started his career as a player before moving to the court. At the Major League level, Bates played second base in 23 games, seven of them last season.
Overall, he has a pitch ratio of 0.965 in the center, having only made three fouls on 85 chances.
Before his injury, Bates had a 273 hit average, 0.349 on percentage basis, 0.535 slowdown, 17 home runs, 40 RBI and 67 hits in 60 games.
The weekend has improved for Dodgers fans after they heard that Bates’ comeback was imminent.
