Ubisoft is shutting down servers in some of its best games

Ubisoft has announced that it will pull servers on September 1 for a variety of games, including some of the best and most popular games to date. Of course, all of these games are “legacy titles” as Ubisoft puts it, which means shutting down online services for these games will have much less impact compared to shutting down servers for their more recent versions like Assassin’s Creed ValhallaAnd the Far Cry 6And the Roller heroesor Rider’s Republic.

According to Ubisoft, online services for games are shutting down to allow them to convert saved resources into newer and more popular games. We don’t know what these newer and more popular titles are, because Ubisoft hasn’t specified them.

“Closing online services for some older games allows us to focus our resources on delivering great experiences to players who play newer or more popular titles,” says Ubisoft. “To help us achieve this, a number of legacy addresses will be added to the list of decommissioned online services on September 1, 2022.”
