Shawn Strickland has been very vocal about his knockout loss at UFC 276.
Sean Strickland went into his UFC 276 fight against Alex Pereira with great confidence. He obviously thought he could stand and hit with Pereira, but boy, was he wrong about that. It took just over two and a half minutes to see Strickland fall and fall hard in one of the most impressive knockouts in recent memory.
Pereira is at another level as a striker, and sooner rather than later he will be jumping over several men to get a chance at the middleweight championships sooner rather than later. Strickland found out about Pereira’s salad firsthand but made no excuses.
in a video Posted on InstagramStrickland began by accurately describing how his night went. “Okay, that’s disgusting.”
Then he went into more detail, “You never want to be special to someone, but that’s the game you play,” he continued. “During the round, I kept thinking this was going to be an easy fight. I see everything this guy throws, and I’m getting better at the exchanges. I’m going to beat this guy for three rounds.”
He ended it by congratulating Pereira, “Hats off to Alex, he’s the King’s killer.”
What’s next for Shawn Strickland after UFC 276?
Strickland took the loss step by step and didn’t seem to scale much because of the loss. While he was on a winning streak, Strickland had lost before, so no one should expect him to collapse from this fight. He should be able to get back on track relatively soon and get back on the title hunt.
