The Georgia soccer team should be ready to defend their national title from the jump right in.
Now that the 1980s have been laid to rest for good, Kirby Smart’s Georgia football program must prepare for life as he is caught up in the college football scene.
While Georgia has a fairly navigable schedule, Dawgs is opening up with Oregon in Atlanta. It will be Dan Lanning’s first appearance as a head coach, but anything less than a 1-0 start to the season would face the huge disappointment of Dawg Nation. Fortunately, Georgia could have an understated offense this season. Look for several excellent actors to represent this aspect of football.
Other star players will appear altogether, but these three may be in store for extraordinary seasons.

Kendall Milton

Kendall Melton will be a big beneficiary of James Cook and Zamir White switching pro
Injuries have limited Kendall Melton’s upward trajectory on the Georgia back floor, but he has a great opportunity ahead of him in his junior season. Milton will probably be second to Georgia behind Kenny Macintosh, but ahead of Dijon Edwards. Together, the three are expected to take on the workload of Georgia’s ground game. However, Milton has stellar potential.
With James Cook and Zamir White going into the NFL, there will be more players like Milton in Georgia. While the passing game may be a bigger part of Georgia’s offensive this year, it’s led by a defensive-minded coach who prefers ball control. Milton may not throw amazing stats into this system, but it can make an enormous impact.
One could argue that Milton is the most talented comeback in Georgia since Nick Chap. Yes, that’s a big comparison, but that’s why a high school player from Clovis, California comes to Athens. Few programs develop better NFL appearances than Georgia. Since he won’t be tasked with taking on the entire workload, Milton can pick his spots to run on the sidelines.
Look for the trio of Edwards, McIntosh, and Milton to overcome the major losses of Cook and White.
