DC sends Catwoman on a mission to find the children of a dead Batman villain

While a new era of Batman She begins with a new creative team, Catwoman on a mission of her own regarding the death of a major villain. Batman #125 features a new starting point with the debut of the creative team of writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Jorge Jimenez. The biggest consequence of exiting the prequel tale includes the apparent death of Penguin, with Oswald Cobblepot framing Batman in the process. With Penguin out of the picture, he’s leaving his Iceberg Lounge property up in the air. When Catwoman is recruited to help serve Penguin’s will, readers learn that a Batman villain has a group of secret children.

Back-up story in Batman #125 by Chip Zdarsky, Belén Ortega, Luis Guerrero, and Clayton Cowles is set in the Iceberg Lounge, where a guerrilla war breaks out to determine who will take control of the Penguin lands. Catwoman also happens to be present and tries to break up the fight before Underbroker returns victoriously to Gotham City. He was one of many new characters created during James Tynion IV and fan favorite Jimenez. Batman. Underbroker brings with him another new character called The Executor, a massive bot that specializes in wills and estates for “unconventional citizens.” The executor’s job is to find the ten individuals indicated in Penguin’s will to ensure that the right individuals are awarded possession of the Iceberg Lounge.

The executor appears at Selina Kyle’s home to ask for her help in finding the people who will read the will. They only have seven days, and the Executor is offering to pay Catwoman $500,000 for her services. This is where The Executor reveals that the ten people they need to find are the Penguin children, leaving a shocked look on Catwoman’s face.

It’s not uncommon to know that a major villain has offspring, but 10 is a pretty big number, even for a Penguin. Batman Main story 125 involved Penguin hiring Clayface to help him kill Gotham’s richest citizens, including Bruce Wayne. The penguin suffers from mercury poisoning, and his dying desire is to give back to all the social people who did not give him the time of day. The reveal of 10 children leaves the door open to introducing new heroes and villains to the Batman family, even though they may not have their father anymore after he carried out his death and framed Batman for it.
