Author George RR Martin has asserted for years that the events of his recent books A Song of Ice and Fire will not directly reflect the final seasons of HBO Game of thrones, with the author recently offering updates on the last two novels in the series and how they actually grow further from the show’s narrative. While Martin has served as a consultant on the overall trajectory for those recent seasons, he’s made clear that his process means he doesn’t always know which direction the narrative will take, so the more time he spends writing Winter winds And the Spring dreamWhenever he witnessed the story deviated from its expected course.
“Another question I get a lot of, especially since the end of Game of thrones On HBO, will A Song of Ice and Fire end the same way,” Martin shared his blog. “An architect would be able to give a short, concise, and simple answer to that, but I am more of a gardener. My stories grow, evolve, and change as I write them. I generally know where I’m going, sure… Final destinations, big fixed pieces, have been my head for years… For decades, in the case of the Song of Ice and Fire. There are a lot of demons in the details, though, and sometimes the ground under my feet changes as the words flow.”
He added, “What I’ve noticed lately is that my gardening is taking me away from the TV series. Yes, some of the things I’ve seen on HBO in Game of thrones You will also see in Winter winds (Although it may not be in the same ways) … but much of the rest will be very different.”
These comments are sure to elicit interesting reactions from fans, especially those who have criticized the HBO series’ final seasons. This will certainly reflect recent comments made by Martin about audiences turning to their beloved franchises.
