When you look at the history of the Open Championship, you often see players who were among the best golfers in the world at the time. They have competed and won recently, are in the top 30 of the world golf rankings, and have played well at The Open before.

5. Robert McIntyre (+6000)
It hasn’t necessarily been the best shape for MacIntyre over the past couple of months. In fact, he’s only made one cut in his last four starts and hasn’t finished inside the top 30 but once since The Masters all over the world. Fortunately, that came at the Irish Open two weeks ago with a solid T13 score.
A favorite at home in Scotland, the pressure will certainly be on the left-handed, but his performances at The Open in the past two tournaments suggest he is a straight sleeper as he finished T8 and T6 in those two shows.
MacIntyre isn’t making much of a fuss with his recent form, but he’s played very well in this tournament the few times he’s played and would love to put in another good showing at St Andrews, a course that should theoretically fit his game.
