With a home run against the Dodgers, Albert Pujols passed Ken Griffey Jr. to set the record for over 20 home runs against most franchises.
Albert Pujols’ sixth home run of the season came with some extra meaning.
It wasn’t just about against his former team, the Dodgers, as he put the Cardinal ahead 1-0 in the second half of a game they would go on to win 7-6.
This was also his 20th home run against the Dodgers, which gave him another MLB record.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Pujols now have 20 or more home runs for 17 different MLB franchises. This makes him skip Ken Grevey Jr. to score.
The Pujols have the most home points of their career against the Astros with 62. They are followed by the Cubs with 57 and the Buccaneers with 52. That’s not surprising considering that every NL Central team is a contender for the Cardinals.
If the St. Louis legend wants to add more teams to his 20-team club, he’ll need to come back for another season. He has 15 against Tigers, Marlins, Phillies and Rice. The Cardinals will not play these teams again this year.
As you might imagine, the Pujols have had their fewest home runs against their long-running teams, the Cardinals and Angels, with three and five, respectively.
The 42-year-old was added to the NL All-Star roster as a Legacy Player. He will be participating in the Home Run Derby for the fifth time in his career.
