We may have just gotten our first official look at the upcoming Motorola Razr 3, as Motorola hopes it will be a third time magic in its quest to rival Samsung for the title of best foldable phone.
For now, that’s a category Samsung dominates, thanks to the success of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. With successors in the works – we could see new Samsung folds next month at a rumored Unpacked event in August 2022 – Samsung numbers to continue to be. Be the first phone maker people turn to when looking for a foldable device.
Motorola clearly wants to change that with its latest attempt to release a foldable version of the iconic Motorola Razr. Motorola has been widely rumored to be working on a new version of the phone after two lackluster attempts at a foldable process, and parent company Lenovo appears to have confirmed the product’s existence through a publication. The phone shown in Weibo images has a less prominent chin than previous foldable Razrs, mirroring what we saw in a leaked video posted in May that claimed to show off the new phone.
In an age where displays stretch from one end of the device to the other, the Motorola Razr’s massive chin has come in for some criticism, even if the design was somewhat true to the original. It seems that Motorola is focusing on designing a more elegant phone this time around the Galaxy Z Flip 4. This rumored foldable phone is said to have a lighter design thanks to the new hinge that Samsung plans to unveil next. Month.
Photos of an executive carrying a new Razr aren’t the only sign we’re getting close to launch. There is, too Teaser video on Weibo (Opens in a new tab) Presentation of the device with its possible name – Motorola Razr 2022.
The phone is not visible in the video, although you can do dual cameras and what appears to be a larger cover screen. This feature keeps you up to date with notifications without having to unlock the phone.
The Motorola Razr 2022 is rumored to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 on the chip. This is a fairly significant upgrade from the previous processors Motorola has used in the Razr, and will match the rumored silicon of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4, another foldable foldable from Samsung. We tested the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 in the Asus ROG Phone 6 Pro and found that it produced the best benchmark results we’ve seen from an Android device, even though the Asus phone comes loaded with RAM.
With design changes and a more powerful processor, it looks like Motorola is trying to address some of the biggest complaints about previous foldables. That will only leave battery life as an issue to be addressed, although the latest Snapdragon silicon is said to have better power management features.
As more videos and teaser images for the Motorola Razr 2022 appear, it indicates that we are getting closer to the launch of the phone. Previous rumors had suggested a summer release, so we can soon know if Motorola’s latest Razr has what it takes to challenge the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.
