These five NFL players either finished last season or didn’t play due to injuries but could be stars when they return in the 2022 season.

As we see in every season in every professional sport, an injury error can strike any player on any team at any time.

Last year was no different in the NFL, with a slew of big names wasting significant time with various ailments.

With the NFL Draft behind us and the season out in full swing, it’s time to turn our collective attention to the products in the field we’ll see in the upcoming campaign; Including those who are set to come back from injury in a big way.

NFL: 5 players return from major injury in 2022

5. New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas

29-year-old Michael Thomas has emerged as one of the game’s best receivers in recent years, led by a dominant 2019 season in which he won the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and set an NFL record for receptions with 149.

Thomas has scored nine touchdowns three times in his career and has been an effective receiver for this Saints club when in good health.

Unfortunately, Thomas has missed quite a bit of time in the past few seasons including the entire last year. In 2020, he started in five games and appeared in seven games overall, making 40 receptions and averaging 11 yards per catch, but never touched down. Injuries and a brief suspension to knock out teammate CJ Gardner-Johnson in practice left him upset in 2020.

Last year, Thomas underwent ankle surgery and missed the entire season. As 2022 approaches, he still holds the title as the Saints’ number one recipient, but if he loses time to injury for the third season in a row, that title may be on the line for him.
