Former Packers star turned contender has a stern message to Aaron Rodgers

Former Green Bay Packers player Zadarius Smith can’t wait to face former quarterback Aaron Rodgers in 2022.

There have been several departures for the Green Bay Packers this season, with the most famous name on the offensive side of the ball being wide receiver Davante Adams. On the defensive side, Packers linebacker Zadarius Smith was released from his contract, becoming a free agent. After initially agreeing to a deal with the Baltimore Ravens, Smith instead opted to sign with Green Bay’s NFC North rivals, the Minnesota Vikings.

Back in May’s appearance on “The Rich Eisen Show”Smith spoke about the Vikings’ confrontation with the Packers in the first week of the 2022 season, and revealed that he is looking forward to facing midfielder Aaron Rodgers.

You can listen to Smith’s comments on “The Rich Eisen Show” tweet below (1:00 mark):

Zadarius Smith can’t wait to take on Aaron Rodgers, the Packers in Week One

Who does not want to face his former team? It is a way for the player to prove to the establishment that he was wrong in releasing or trading them. Just ask Baker Mayfield of the Carolina Panthers, who said he’s looking forward to playing the Cleveland Browns in his first week if he wins the first job in boot camp.

The Vikings will face the Packers, the team that eliminated them from a playoff match in Week 17 last year.

Smith offered a preview of what could be Rodgers’ road, posting a photo to his Twitter account of him standing next to teammate Daniel Hunter. The commentary was simple – the date of the first week’s match.

Last year, Smith only played in the season opener against the New Orleans Saints and the tag team role against the San Francisco 49ers due to a back injury.

In his three seasons with the team, Smith scored 108 combined tackles, 60 leading hits, 26 sacks, five forced tackles, two stumble recoveries, and two passes to defend. He’s reached the Pro Bowl every year of his first two years with the team.

The Vikings will be looking to make a statement against the Packers to start the 2022 season under a new system of general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell. Smith will be looking to show the grit they lost in defence.
