A new live-action series based on Yoshihiro Togashi’s Yu Yu Hakusho is currently in the works at Netflix, and the lead star behind Yusuke Urameshi has broken his silence about signing this big new adaptation. The original anime adaptation of the hit manga Togashi continues to be one of the most beloved anime series of all time. That’s even more true as it celebrates its 30th anniversary, and fans have been wondering how the franchise will return as part of celebrating this massive new milestone for the fan favorite.
First confirmed to start business in December 2020, Shueisha, TOHO, and ROBOT are working with Netflix on a new series of live events for… Yo Yo Hakusho This is being promoted as an adaptation of the manga (which has some differences from the way the anime is presented) with Takumi Kitamura (who starred in the live-action TAvengers Okiyo The title role, Takemichi Hanegaki) starred Yusuke Urameshi. Kitamura is the first cast member to have been revealed so far, and has broken his silence about joining an adaptation of such a huge franchise.
Speaking to IGN about the casting (which Netflix promised we’ll see more cast members added to the series over the coming weeks), Kitamura stated the following about becoming Yusuke for the new Yo Yo Hakusho Series, “The original work is a universal and unique masterpiece and the reason why Japan is so proud of its strong manga and anime culture. I am happy to share my masterpiece.” Yo Yo Hakusho With the world and I hope we can create something for people everywhere to enjoy. “Now it’s just about seeing if he goes down or not.
Netflix Yo Yo Hakusho The series is currently slated to release live around the world sometime next year, but there are still many details left to fill in as fans wonder exactly what to expect from the franchise’s new offering. Fortunately, it has been confirmed that Sho Tsukikawa will direct the new series alongside Kazutaka Sakamoto (Aggretsuko, Devilman Crybaby) as executive producer and Teru Morii as producer.
