Disney Plus is now the de facto streaming service for comic book fans, but Netflix hasn’t given up on the fight and just confirmed that it will be introducing the best superhero trilogy of all time starting next month.
took a streamer to Twitter (Opens in a new tab) To confirm that starting Monday, August 1, Raimi’s Spider-Man Trilogy will be available on Netflix. Consisting of 2002’s Spider-Man, 2004’s Spider-Man 2 and 2007’s Spider-Man 3, all three films were directed by the legendary Sam Raimi and are still loved to this day.

The original Spider-Man, along with the 2000’s X-Men, basically started the comic book movie craze that dominates the movie industry to this day. It’s no exaggeration to say that without them we probably wouldn’t have the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it.
He may have turned twenty this year but Spider-Man is still holding up well. Tobey Maguire is the perfect Peter Parker, and Willem Dafoe’s Norman Osborne/Green Gulpin is the perfect blend of villainy and sarcasm you want from a character. There are some old-fashioned influences, but it’s easy to overlook when the movie becomes too relevant.
Its sequel, Spider-Man 2, seriously claims to be the greatest superhero movie ever, and we comfortably ranked it as the best Spider-Man movie of last year. Everything comes together perfectly in Spider-Man 2 from the hitman action sequences to the tragic villain, Dr. Otto Octavius. The subplot looking at the toll Spider-Man takes in Parker’s life is done very well.
The final part of the trilogy, Spider-Man 3, is definitely its weak point, and upon its release, it received mostly negative reviews. It’s been a nicer time for the overly ambitious flick but it still struggles with trying to cram too much into one movie. Not to mention that some of the casting options don’t really work (sorry, Topher Grace) and the tone is a bit cheesy. However, it does have its moments, and the final climax showdown is exciting in all the right ways.
Of course, we can’t talk about the Raimi Trilogy without mentioning her biggest pop culture impact: Memes. Each movie is full of stills, scenes, and lines that have been woven into internet culture over the past two decades. From Norman Osborne’s “I’m a Psychologist” ad to Parker’s bizarre strut on the streets of Manhattan! Even if you’ve never seen any of the movies in the trilogy before, you’ll almost certainly recognize several moments — Netflix even announced the movie’s arrival on the service via a meme from the trilogy.
Once you watch the Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, you can follow it The Amazing Spider-Man, which is also available on Netflix. Unfortunately, if you want to watch the latest Spider-Man trilogy starring Tom Holland, you need to find alternative mediums (like Starz). While none of them are streaming on Netflix at the moment, there is some good news, Spider-Man: No Way Home just landed on the streaming service for the first time.
