The Cowboys need to rush to sign Anthony Barr before losing to NFC East rival

The Dallas Cowboys are said to have some competition for former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Anthony Parr.

The Dallas Cowboys have had some notable departures this off season, specifically wide receiver Amari Cooper, right tackle Lyle Collins and Randy Gregory. This is mostly due to the team’s cap crisis. But throughout the Ecuadorian season, they have been linked to multi-time Pro Bowl full-back Anthony Parr. However, they have competition.

according to KSTP’s Darren WolfsonThe Cowboys are interested in Barr, but the Washington captains have “kicked the tires” due to the prospect of signing the former Minnesota Vikings linebacker.

Cowboys vie for Anthony Barr in rival leaders

Losing a free agent for a team is another thing. But would you lose a player you were interested in to a division rival? That should add more urgency to the Cowboys’ front desk, right?

The Leaders reached the playoffs two years ago thanks to a defense that helped carry the team to the NFC East title. This team allowed an average of 304.6 yards of total attack per game, the second lowest in the entire league behind the Los Angeles Rams.

But in 2021, the leaders’ defense underperformed compared to the previous year, surrendering an average of 359.3 yards of total attack (11- Top in the NFL).

While Barr has been injury prone in recent years, he has name value that could help either team if he’s going to stay healthy. In his career, Parr has recorded 495 total tackles, 44 quarterbacks, 31 defensive passes, 17.5 sacks, eight forced tackles, seven fouls, and five interceptions.

The Cowboys have missed out on free midfielders this off season, most notably Bobby Wagner and Von Miller. They can’t afford to lose another player in the top players list, especially to a top-tier competitor.
