Series viewer confirms Olivia Rodrigo will exit season 3

High School Musical: The Musical: Series It returns to Disney+ for its third season at the end of the month, taking fans on a trip away from East High and into Camp Shallow Lake. While plenty of fun has been promised this season, there will also be a very difficult farewell, as Season 3 will be the last for Olivia Rodrigo and her character Nina. The character’s Farewell Tour will span the season.

She felt this was inevitable, given Rodrigo’s meteoric rise to fame after her acclaimed debut album, Pictures, and her on-screen journey mirroring the events of her real life. At the end of the second season, Nina had the opportunity to go to Los Angeles and pursue a career as a songwriter. In season three, Nina will be in LA to chase those dreams on her own, separate from the rest of the characters.

“I think she’s ready to explore the world outside the halls of East High,” said show director Tim Federel. ET In a recent interview. And Olivia herself was experiencing such a huge explosion in the music industry that it felt like the right thing, frankly, to work with Olivia to say, ‘How do we get you out into the world with us and take more of the back seat? Which we were all proud of supporting her.”

Federell went on to say that Olivia’s storyline in Season 3 of High School Musical would give Nina a “proper farewell,” which in turn would give the other characters more time on center stage.

“So this season is all about trying to give her character a proper farewell while leaving room for other characters to really get into the fray and step into the spotlight,” he said. “Personally, it’s a pleasure to see Olivia’s music explode in such a big way. It was so fun to relive it and remember the beginning.”
