The Wakanda Forever trailer confirms Namor’s finer details

Marvel Studios returned to Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con in a massive fashion Saturday with what can only be called a feast of news, reveal, first looks, trailers, and more for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, one of the most eagerly anticipated shows was the much-anticipated trailer Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Not only did the new trailer give fans their first look at what Wakanda could look like without T’Challa’s Chadwick Boseman, but it also confirmed that Tenoch Huerta plays Namor the Sub-Mariner in the film — and confirmed comic-accurate details of the iconic Marvel character.

Early in the emotional show, a pregnant woman is seen giving birth underwater and when this baby is born and lifted into the light, two tiny winged feet briefly appear. The implication is that the newborn is a namor. Then, a little later, those winged feet are further emphasized when we see an adult Namur, in ornate Aztec-inspired shape from the look of delicate comic green swimming trunks, as well as winged feet/ankles. You can check out the two pictures below.

As Marvel Comics fans know, Namor is often shown wearing a green swimsuit with a gold belt and has winged ankles – an important part of his physiology. While the subsequent appearance of the trailer makes it a bit difficult to distinguish between the wings and the sandal-like armored foot coverings he wears, this birth photo certainly seems to confirm that the Atlantean king was indeed born with this difference, something like no other. It seems that his people have.

Outside of this confirmation of Huerta Namor’s presence in the film as well as his winged ankles, little is known about what to expect from the character, although the newly released synopsis of the film sheds some light on a bit more.
