Shark Week is officially back on Discovery for 2022, with plenty of new prime-time packed shark-packed specials for the next several days. One of those specials is the latest installment in the long-running and fan-favorite game air jaws The series, which began in 2001 and has followed teams of researchers and photographers traveling to South Africa to photograph great white sharks burrowing into the surface of the water. This year is called Air Jaws: Top Gunscreator and executive producer Jeff Kaur explained why Shark Week I hugged him Better This time around.

Another guy named Chris Fallows and I were kind of the original Air Jaws, if you will, using the word ‘talent’ loosely, but we’ve been kind of the main characters all these years portraying the great white shark penetration and getting up close and personal with these animals in the south Africa. I just decided this year that it was time for some new blood to come in. So kind of like the movie Top Gun, it reminded me of Maverick, and then it came in with the younger pilots? Well, we have two new guys, Dickie Chevelle and Andy Casagrande, who are basically on a mission to try to outdo what Chris and I did for twenty years. They are trying to get the biggest penetrating white shark in the movie. This was their mission, and it was really fun doing it.
Oh my gosh, fans are into something new this year Air Jaws: Top Guns! Andy Casagrande and Dickie Chevelle may not be Tom Cruise and Miles Teller, photographing sharks apart from dogfighting in the sky, but they’re two highlights of Shark Week year in and year out, so it’s best to take the reins air jaws To try to outdo the originals? Whether they succeed or not, the special should definitely be interesting, and Kurr’s preview reveals that they captured something amazing on camera in South Africa. He completed:
The shot they ended up getting will probably go down in Air Jaws history as one of the most famous hacks of all time. It is amazing and beautiful. And these guys, Andy and Dickie, took advantage of these amazing new cameras they now have too, because for the original Air Jaws, which I shot over 20 years ago, we did it in standard definition on videotapes. Nowadays it’s 6K and 8K and there are just great cameras out there. It makes sharks look amazing and beautiful.
Shark Week technology has definitely progressed over the years, and air jaws You will take full advantage of it. Casagrande and Chivell undoubtedly needed all the favours they could have, because – as fans had seen in previous years of Shark Week – Orcas had been killing so many great whites on the South African coast, so finding penetrating sharks became even more difficult.
So what’s it like for Andy Casagrande and Dickie Schiffel as partners, and will viewers have some Better Feelings of its dynamism as well as a special form? Everyone will have to wait until the July 25 special to find out if Casagrande or Chivell are really a renegade, but EP Jeff Kurr promised they were “funny” and “have a lot of energy” together. He also had a long history with both of them before they were even introduced to them air jaws In this new way as he said:
In fact, I discovered these two men. Dicky, as a kid would bring us lunch on the boat when we were filming. I think he was 17 or 18 years old. I said, ‘Now, this kid has some charisma and he’s great with sharks. He’s like a fish, he’d be good at shark week. Well, the rest is history. And Andy Casagrande – I was in South Africa, and he came up to me and said, ‘Hey, I’m interested Really sharks, I have the shark song I created. Want to hear that?’ I had no idea who he was. So he played the shark song, and I thought it was pretty good. Anyway, that was a long time ago, nearly twenty years ago, and look where he is now.
Andy Casagrande has been around Shark Week for many years, so his origin at least partly from the shark song is a fun bit of trivia. As for Dickie Chevelle, he and Core have actually teamed up on another special shark celebration show at Discovery for 2022, called Shark House It was broadcast on Thursday. Core follower:
Part of the fun has been this for me, having worked on Shark Week for 32 years. He’s just spotting new talent, people who have amazing abilities with sharks and they have charisma that can really help tell a story, putting my Dickie up with Andy – it was just great chemistry. These guys are funny and they are fun. They both have an amazing passion for sharks, which really shows, so it’s a really entertaining movie.
