Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a big deal for Marvel, and if it The trailer’s astronomical viewing numbers are any indicationmay rival this sequel Original box office Black Panther. San Diego Comic-Con revealed some new details about Next Marvel moviebut we still don’t know officially who will take on the mantle of the hero who follows the actor Chadwick Boseman dies. Personally, I’m of the opinion that it shouldn’t be known who will replace him until opening weekend, and I’d love for that to happen.
Only a few months left until the release of Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverAnd, if Marvel Studios hasn’t released the name of the actor playing the new Black Panther, I’m all about it. Here are some reasons, as well as why I think other fans should be excited to see this happen provided we don’t hear about it before the movie hits theaters.
It’s very hard for fans to be surprised anymore
We live in an age where phones make it difficult for anything to stay secret. If we haven’t read some snooty press about pop culture (thanks, by the way), we’re looking for spoilers about key tunes in upcoming movies. In fact, fans are so insistent on spoilers that we have events like San Diego Comic-Con where the creators show up and reveal some of the big things going on in their movies beforehand. Obviously not only are they out there listing all the little things that happen, but it’s hard to remember a time when people just showed up in a sequel with little idea of what to expect.
Marvel can’t and sometimes can’t keep many of its secrets from getting out, so I definitely appreciate it more when something slips unnoticed. Take for example when star Wars I managed to stop him from the leak Luke Skywalker was in The Mandalorian Season 2, that was a really amazing moment that set the internet on fire because it was that big, and practically no one saw it (although I argued why The Mandalorian needed to include Luke Skywalker).
I don’t say the Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverThe actor’s reveal will measure up to the same level of hype, but I think it’s definitely something you should be excited about. Hell, I’m actually glad to be able to get into the movie without knowing with 100% certainty who’s going to be in the role. I wouldn’t say learning too early will spoil the fun, but it will kill a little of that excitement that I so sorely missed.
Speculation increases the already high expectation for the movie
We’ve removed it less than a week from San Diego Comic-Con, and I’ve already seen many articles with speculation about who’s playing the new Black Panther. There are obviously people out there who want to know, and the theories about who can be very interesting to read and discuss. Debating and theorizing is like 90% of pop culture experience, and it’s not something we get to know once we know the answer.
Think back to Captain America: Civil War And all the speculation that happened when we learned that Spider-Man would appear. In the end we didn’t know much about what was going to happen, nor did we have much to go on long after a shot of him clutching Captain America’s shield. I remember thinking about it because he wouldn’t be involved in more of that scene, but then we got a full fight scene. My speculation played to my advantage there, so I’m glad I didn’t overstate Tom Holland’s participation in the movie.
And to be completely honest, if fans really want to know who’s playing the hero Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverThere are theories out there. Some of these theories seem more likely than others, and there are some ideas that seem a bit far fetched. It’s totally fine, because every clue, better or worse than what happens, adds to the expectation and gets people excited to see if their guess is right or wrong.
Fans can wait until they see the new Black Panther to judge the decision
Perhaps the greatest benefit of holding Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverThe secret is that it prevents the general public from writing off an actor or actress before they are officially seen in the role. This is a rare opportunity that we as fans don’t do very often, and we try as we might block expectations or judge the cast, snippets always come through anyway.
Consider how divided the discourse around Robert Pattinson playing Batman and how polarizing that decision was. finally Batman They came and went with critical acclaim, and unless you’re someone who’s still pushing for SnyderVerse back (which doesn’t seem likely), people are pretty much on board with Battinson. I can’t help but wonder: Would the reaction have been so divisive if no one knew it was him until after watching the movie? I tend to say no, but of course we have no way of being sure of that.
The closest we have is Black Panther: Wakanda Forever She keeps the secret of Black Panther’s identity for now. As I mentioned, people who desperately want to know who they are will be able to find out who they are, but for those who are only casually interested, it would be nice to notice. Many, assuming the secret was kept, would go into the movie without knowing and then see the actor in action as Black Panther soon after. I can’t think of a purer way to get the real reaction of a character in a role, and the greatest opportunity for any naysayers to cross someone out before seeing them to give them a fair shot.
I paint a great picture that makes the identity of the next Black Panther a secret worth keeping until opening day, but the truth is we can learn this secret anytime between now and November. Although, we hope we can wait for this reveal, and maybe we all get a chance to experience a big surprise together.
