For many fans of Rice’s work, the 1994 movie – which starred Tom Cruise as Lestat and Brad Pitt as well as Louis as well as Kirsten Dunst, Christian Slater and Antonio Banderas – is the standard, but according to series star Sam Reid, the upcoming series will expand on the story In a way the movie never could.
“I love the movie. I love Tom Cruise’s performance in the movie too,” said Reed, who plays Lestat on the AMC series. ComicBook.com. “But what we have to do is, when Anne wrote the second book, she kind of opened up the character a little bit more and understood a little bit more, and brought in a bit more backstory. And so, that’s what we did. Lewis kind of has a more refined version of Lestat.So I can bring up all these great stuff that I kind of talked about in the books you can’t really see in the movie because it’s only two hours and because it’s more based on that original book and we kind of look at The entire universe. So, it’s very exciting.”
Reed also shared that he is a huge fan of Rice’s books and that for him, it’s a great privilege to be a part of this new mod.
“Very familiar,” Reid said. “Big fan of books, big fan.” “When I read that it was going to be made into a TV show, I was really hoping that I’d have the opportunity to audition. So yeah, there’s tremendous pressure because you feel that pressure to make sure you live up to the character in the world that you love so much. I mean, there’s a tremendous amount of The pressure because they loved these books and this world you created but also the pressure you put on yourself to rise to it too is full. But what an extraordinary opportunity, gift, and privilege to be able to be a part of it.”
